  • Medical Surgical Department

    The department of medical surgical Nursing which was established in 2002 offers comprehensive training to undergraduate and post graduate students training to undergraduate and post graduate students based on the philosophy that students need to be well informed not only in knowledge and skills but also in the upcoming scientific advancements in different areas of clinical practice so as to enable them to face new challenges and opportunities in various innovative health care settings. The teaching programme helps the students to understand the principles and concepts of Medical Surgical Nursing, to acquire knowledge and develop professional skills in caring for patients with Medical and Surgical disorders in variety of health care settings at home and in hospital.

    PHILOSOPHY

    Medical and Surgical Nursing department believes that nursing contributes to the health services in a vital and significant way in the health services in a vital and significant war in the healthcare delivery system. It aims at identifying the health needs of people, planning and providing quality care in collaboration with other health professionals and community groups.

  • Paediatric Department

    The Department of Child Health Nursing provides student centered teaching and learning in a conducive atmosphere that helps students to gain knowledge, skill and attitude required to respond to the health needs of children and their families. The department of child health nursing offers training in Child Health Nursing of 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing, First year B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing. Besides that, the department takes up the subject co-ordination of Microbiology for B.Sc. Nursing and Post Basic Nursing and Nursing foundation for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing. The faculty of the department is also involved in teaching Advanced Nursing practice and Nursing administration to M.Sc. Nursing students. The faculty adopts various teaching and learning methods like seminar, symposium, group discussion, case studies, care analysis, clinical teaching and procedure demonstration to enhance the knowledge and skill of students.

  • Obstetric & Gynaecological Department

    Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing Department offers various courses to M.Sc., B.Sc. & PB B.Sc. nursing students in Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing. The department has well equipped maternity laboratory for students learning and research purposes. The department appreciates the concepts and principles of obstetrical and gynaecological nursing and helps students to acquire knowledge, develop attitude and skills in rendering nursing care to normal and high risk pregnant women, and gynaecological patients in hospital and community settings. It also helps to develop skills in managing normal and high – risk neonate and participate in family welfare programmes.

  • Community Health Nursing Department

    Community Health Nursing Department is involved in community, education, research and anatomy of UG and PG Programmes. The department activities are supported by community, education and anatomy labs. Staff of this department is involved in curricular and extra-curricular responsibilities of the college. Periodical department meetings were conducted for the smooth functioning of academic responsibilities and for the final outcome of the students. To make the student self-reliant the departmental activities were planned during their field activities like organizing mass awareness programmes for the public (participating in health rally, celebrating health days, school health programmes), screening programmes for vulnerable groups, involving in Palliative care, conducting community surveys, working with multidisciplinary team of the public health and playing a part in various National health programmes.

  • Mental Health Department

    Mental Health Nursing is a part of Lourdes College of nursing designed for developing an understanding of the modern approach to metal health, identification, prevention and nursing management of common mental health problems. The department of mental health nursing guides the students of M.Sc., B.Sc. & PB B.Sc. Nursing in theory and clinical. Every year the department organizes state level conferences with M.Sc. Nursing students. Usually the department gets feedback from faculty and students and suggestions are evaluated and implemented.

  • Lourdes School of Nursing Department

    Lourdes School of Nursing Sidhi Sadan strives to develop students who are motivated and educated to discharge their duties with love and affection. The institution which started in 1969 with 12 students now admits 50 students annually. It is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council. The School of Nursing is headed by Principal Mrs. Ditty Joseph and has a total of 15 faculty members.
