College Council Committee

The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) mandates that all affiliated nursing Colleges have a college council

OBJECTIVES

• To advise the Principal on internal matters related to the functioning of the college, particularly in the academic domain.
• To support the development and maintenance of a strong academic environment within the institution.
• To facilitate effective communication among faculty, administration, and other stakeholders.
• To contribute to the planning and implementation of academic policies and practices.
• To ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the college in alignment with KUHS regulations.

The college council’s constitution includes the following:

• The college council includes the principal, heads of departments, the director , the head of physical education, the chairman of the college union, the administrative officer, the chairman of the parent-teacher association, and two representatives from the teaching staff.
• The college council meets at least twice a year to discuss and act on internal college matters. The secretary schedules the meetings and prepares the agenda.
• Decisions are made by a majority vote. In the event of a tie, the chairman is granted a second or casting vote.
• The college council elects a teacher other than the principal to serve as secretary. The council can remove the secretary from office by a two-thirds majority vote.
• The college council is reconstituted annually.
• If the principal overrules a college council decision, the secretary reports the matter to the vice chancellor.

QUORUM: The quorum shall be 2/3rd of the total members.

FREQUENCY OF MEETING: Once in six months
